Piano Recital 2011

We are so sad that we are loosing our Piano teacher, Anne Katherine to BYU in the fall. She has been a great motivator and teacher for Brooklyn. We will surely miss her.

Brooklyn had a great recital last night. She played two songs. They were both songs she had been working in for so long, she was getting sick of playing them. She did memorize them both, but at the last minute she wanted the sheet music. I think that is what messed her up a couple times. These were very hard songs and she did fantastic! I had a proud mommy moment last night for sure.

Brooklyn's Field Day 2011

I'm a bit behind posting some events that have taken place these last few months. I guess it's never too late, right?!

Brooklyn had her 2nd Grade Field Day a month or so ago and me and boys got to go and watch her participate in the events. As I was looking though the photos, I realized I took more videos than photos. So, here are the two I took.

So true, so true.

This is a project Brooklyn brought home from school a few weeks ago. I've have it on my fridge, because it makes me smile. If only she knew how true this really was.

First Day of 2nd Grade

To stick with a tradition I started when Brooklyn went into Kindergarten, I decorated her breakfast table this morning as a 2nd grade / "Purse"onal Goal setting theme. I had to go simple this year. Not to mention the fact that the baby has taken away most of my "me" time and any form of creativity I normally would have to prepare earlier for this mornings festivities.

She of course was too nervous to eat anything. This was the same result last year. Although, in 2nd grade, they don't have a "snack time." I hope she lasts until 12:30 lunch.

Sleeping companions

I'm sure all of you parents can relate! Walking into your childs room late at night to check on them and make sure their covers are on and they are actually in the bed to find them looking like this...

It's pretty hard keeping your composure so you dont wake them up.
Gavin got WALL-E for going #2 on the potty that day. He was not about to give it up. Brooklyn got the microphone for being patient and helping mommy throughout the day. I hate to say it, but it looks like she's in a coffin. I told you I hated saying that. It almost makes it a creepy picture. So, I'll post this one of her sleeping a few days ago...

I wonder what she was dreaming about??????

Last Day of Kindergarten

I'm about 2 weeks behind on this post. Brooklyn is finished with Kindergarten! I'm hoping the saying; "Everything I need to know I learned in Kindergarten" comes into effect soon. I think we have a little more to teach her.

She had a great year. She didn't miss one day of school. Perfect record. I'm so proud of her and the fact that we made it the school year without getting sick (knocking on wood now). I wanted to make her last day special, so she woke up to a decorated table (again) with a end of school year present. When we got home that day ( I went in to volunteer to help with lunch, etc.) Daddy and Gavin was ready to squirt us with a water gun fight. But, little did they know, Brooklyn and I had Silly String we whipped out! She even got to run through a banner that said "Welcome to 1st Grade!" Brian took off work that day, and to continue our celebration, we went down to Mall of America and had some fun. She deserved every minute of fun she got that day.

I still can't believe I'm going to have a 1st Grader!
